NAHRMA elects CCHRA Chair, Shannon Railton, as President

TORONTO- September 29, 2016 – Shannon Railton, Chair of the Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations (CCHRA), has been elected President of the North American Human Resource Management Association (NAHRMA) for a two-year term. Railton will represent Canada, a member of NAHRMA, which also includes the USA and Mexico.
“NAHRMA is the North American voice for the HR profession on the international stage and I am thrilled to be able to represent Canada and North America as Chair of NAHRMA,” said Shannon Railton. “NAHRMA seeks to advance the interests of the human resource profession, which aligns well with our goals at CCHRA”.
“We are pleased to announce that Shannon Railton has been appointed as the President of NAHRMA,” said Anthony Ariganello, Chief Executive Officer of CCHRA. “This will allow Canada to take the lead in setting North American standards for HR practices and creating further unity among member countries Mexico, United States and Canada”.
The Canadian Council of Human Resources Associations (CCHRA) is the national body that provides direction for all the provincial Human Resources member associations in administering the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. The CHRP is the leading standard for HR professionals in Canada. CCHRA is comprised of member associations from nine provinces and two territories: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland Labrador, Northwest Territory and Yukon Territory. The North America Human Resource Management Association (NAHRMA) was founded in 1997 by the national human resource associations of Canada, Mexico and the United States. The Association is the North American representative body for human resource management, representing more than 300,000 human resource professionals and the interests of the human resource profession in North America. NAHRMA maintains contact with its member organizations and with other national and international organizations active in the same or similar fields. The Association seeks to advance, on a non-profit basis, the interests of the human resource profession, improve the quality and effectiveness of professional human resource management, promote and develop knowledge of human resource issues and the importance of such issues to public and private sector organizations.
