Professional Mentorship Program Overview
As an added benefit of membership, CPHR Manitoba offers the
Professional Mentorship Program. The aim of this member-only program is to help
link established human resources professionals with students, emerging HR
practitioners, and HR professionals looking to transition to a new field of
interest, taking on a new capacity within their organizations, or interested in
developing new skills for future career aspirations. These relationships enable
the program participants and business leaders to exchange knowledge and
experience relating to skill, culture and values. Participants gain valuable individual feedback and may
observe companies and their leaders at work. Overall, relationships of trust, respect and appreciation
are built to enhance our shared community. The CPHR Manitoba Professional Mentorship
Program is committed to promoting professionalism and mutual benefit to both
Mentor and Mentee.
The CPHR Manitoba Professional Mentorship Program runs from
September to April. Two events for participants of the Professional Mentorship
Program will be organized to celebrate the valuable relationship between Mentor
and Protégé. These events will allow all participants to socialize and network as a whole community. The form and frequency of the contact between mentors and protégés will vary. Mentors and Mentees would be expected to:
to at least 2-4 hours per month of interaction with their mentoring partner
during the program (face to face, phone, email, Skype)
a written learning and development plan at the beginning of the relationship
and track their interaction with each other during the program
a program kick-off where mentors and protégés will receive training and information on program objectives
a survey at the end of the program to provide valuable feedback for the future
of the program
Who can participate in the CPHR Manitoba Professional Mentorship
Current members of CPHR Manitoba in good standing who work or are pursuing an education in HR in Manitoba are eligible to apply.
CPHR Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Hours
CPHR members are eligible to claim 10 hours per year of CPD hours for participating in the program.
It is important to maintain a Mentoring Log for submission
and verification, as required, for eligibility of CPD Hours.

The application deadline for the 2017-2018 Professional Mentorship Program has passed. If you wish to participate we may be able to accommodate late applicants. Please contact Lindsey Barnett to inquire.
There is a $75 fee for Mentees to register for the program. Mentor
registrations are free.
If you are interested in participating
as both a Mentor and a Mentee, you must complete both applications.
A kick-off event for the Professional Mentorship Program takes place each fall, providing an opportunity for all mentor-mentee pairs to meet initially and learn more about the intentions of the program.
